The Framework

Research: Welcome

The framework is designed to be flexible in terms of its usage for all othered musics and pedagogical practices - meaning its use stretches beyond the inclusion of Indigenous musics though this is the example used in the initial paper and framework.  The image on the left serves to function as a visual tool for educators to refer to while selecting and reviewing resources. It intends to show that each section is of equal importance towards understanding music education as a powerful tool promoting equity. Below you will find how the facilitator envisions the framework at work.

The figure to the left is an example of what the framework can look like when it is being utilized by educators to make additions to their curriculum and pedagogical practices. By making this framework template available to educators in an online setting, there is an option to add to the already existing framework and share findings on a broader scale.

This template can also be used in the initial setting that this framework was created for - professional development day workshops.

The Paper

To the left is the original paper proposal from which the framework was developed. It is through this paper that the facilitator explains the importance of the three categories: cultural production, justice-oriented cultural citizenship, and stigma and judgment-free counter spaces.
